"It's That Clear"

OPEN ON:  A little league baseball game. An eager 7-year-old, TIMMY, steps up to the plate. We find Mom and Dad cheering in the stands:

DAD:  You can do it, son!

MOM:  We’re proud of you, Timmy!

Timmy takes a hitter’s stance, but what’s up with his bat?  It doesn’t have the familiar smooth wood shape – it looks blocky and pixilated, like some kind of low-res caveman club.

The first pitch flies past and Timmy can barely get the clumsy bat around to swing.

UMP:   Strike one!

DAD:  Choke up on it, son!

The second pitch whizzes past as the bat slips out of Timmy’s hands – it’s just too big and awkward.

UMP:   Strike two!

MOM:  We’re still proud of you, Timmy!

A Man in the stands turns to Timmy's parents.

MAN:  It’s not his fault.

DAD:  I know… (loudly) it’s his coach's fault!

MAN:  No, it’s his equipment.

DAD:  Well, it was good enough for me and my father and his father and…

The ball ricochets off the sharp edge of Timmy’s bat and sails foul, forcing Mom, Dad and the Man to duck.

MOM:  Even if you never ever amount to anything worthwhile, we’ll be proud of you, Timmy!

Dad looks at Mom – he obviously doesn’t share her sentiment.  Then he looks at the Man:

DAD:   Tell me about this new equipment.

CUT TO: A graphic environment which shows standard definition and high definition TVs side-by-side.

ANNCR (V.O.):  It’s time your TV hit the 21st century…

CUT TO:  Timmy’s got his high-res bat at the plate.  When the pitch comes, he swings with ease, sending the ball flying like a rocket – a foul rocket!  The ball hits Dad square in the chest, knocking him flat on his back. 

But Dad’s not mad. He’s glad.

DAD:  We’re proud of you, Timmy!
